A Webinar on Promotion of Scientific Research in Africa Conducted.
A continental Webinar entitled “The promotion of scientific research in Africa facing the Covid-19” was conducted on 29th May 2020. Objectives of the Webinar were to present, analyze, and discuss the challenges and issues of scientific research in Africa during the pandemic period.
Panelists of the online conference who shared national scientific research activities on COVID-19 were from Tunisia, Liberia, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Morocco, and Ethiopia. With his presentation, entitled “Promotion of Scientific Research in Africa Facing the COVID-19: the Ethiopian Experience”, Dr. Solomon Benor, Director General for Science and Research Affairs of MoSHE addressed ongoing efforts of Ethiopia in containing the pandemic in general, and the various scientific research and community service activities of MoSHE and its affiliated institutions in particular.
Strengthening partnerships for joint research collaboration on the pandemic was one among several of the way forwards proposed during the online conference.
The online conference was organized by the African University Network (ITAUN), the International Exhibition for Information and Communication Technologies of Africa (SITICAFRICA 2020), and the National Agency of Scientific Research Promotion, Tunisia (ANPR).
